Melville, NY—Nikon introduced four Coolpix S-series models to address the lifestyle of social users who care about the quality of the images they take and share. The new cameras, scheduled to be available mid September, offer enhanced zoom ranges and new ways to share photos and High Definition (HD) video, as well as Nikon core technologies like Vibration Reduction (VR) and Expeed C2 image processing.

Expanding on the ultracompact superzoom category, the Coolpix S8200 and S6200 are designed for high-performance zoom with Nikkor optics, while the Coolpix S1200pj sports a 20-lumen built-in projector and compatibility with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. And, with an enhanced organic LED touch screen, the trendy Coolpix S100 is a stylish model built for easy operation.

“The new Coolpix S-series cameras combine Nikon’s renowned image quality and superior technology in slim, stylish bodies for connected users who love to share their memories with others,” said Lisa Osorio, general manager, Marketing, Nikon Inc. “With easy-to-use features and fun capabilities, these cameras inspire consumers to shoot, record and share, while reflecting their personal style.”

A hallmark of the Coolpix brand is the number of vibrant colors offered to match personal style. And all four of these Coolpix incorporate Nikon’s Nikkor optics as well as an Expeed C2 digital image-processing engine to help ensure high-quality pictures. Also included are scene auto selector or easy auto mode, which allow the cameras to automatically recognize the shooting situation and adjust settings accordingly.

To capture flattering portraits, the new S cameras all feature Nikon’s smart portrait system—a series of automatic functions that includes In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, face-priority AF, smile mode, blink warning and skin softening. Plus the Coolpix S8200 and S100 provide easy panorama mode for taking panorama photos with a press of the shutter button.

                                  The Coolpix S8200 and S6200
The Coolpix S8200 boasts a 14x optical Zoom-Nikkor ED glass lens integrated into a compact body (1.3-inch depth) and, to help capture images in challenging lighting, a 16.1 megapixel backside illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor. Its high-speed continuous shooting can capture five shots at six frames per sec (fps), and photos and movies are composed, captured and edited on its 3.0-inch, 921,000-dot LCD. The S8200 takes Full HD (1080p) video with stereo sound, and consumers have the ability to zoom during recording, or add the camera’s range of special effects (still/video) and filter effects (in playback mode for still images), including selective color and fisheye. The S8200 come in a choice of black, silver or red. $329.95.
